Gunby Hall Estate: Monksthorpe Chapel

Built in a time of dissent and persecution, this unique secluded chapel was designed to look like a farmyard barn in order to avoid being discovered. Built in 1701 and refurbished in 1840, it has a modest interior and a rare open air baptistry in its grounds.If you would like to explore the interior of Monksthorpe Chapel, you can collect the key from the tea-room at Gunby Hall and Gardens from February till October daily from 11am. You will need to pay a £20 fully refundable cash deposit. Please return the key before 4.30pm.
